#GivingTuesday from the perspective of an 8 year old

#GivingTuesday from the perspective of an 8 year old

My mom asked me if I wanted to donate money to #GivingTuesday*. I said yes. Then she asked me how much money I had. I said I had $44. She told me if I was sure if I had $44. I kept saying « yes » but she kept asking if I was sure. So finally, we did a bet. If I was right, well nothing would happen. But if she was right I would give her $1. So I went to check, and to my surprise, I had 2 $10 and 2 $20 ($60). I couldn’t give her one dollar, so I didn’t do anything. A few hours later, my mom asked me to ask my 5 year old brother, Nathan, and 3 year old sister, Naima, if they wanted to donate. First I asked Nathan, at first he said no money! I explained what #GivingTuesday* does « Giving Tuesday will give money to the uninsured. Mama and Papa have insurance. My glasses were $350.99, but with insurance they were $30 Let’s imagine. If we wanted to buy something we really need and it was $1,000,000. With insurance it would be $10 » (this 1 million to ten dollars part can’t happen in real life) and he said $40 from $20. I did not ask Naima though.

*#GivingTuesday is a movement to give to people in need.
